A solo oil-painting exhibition by Hanoian artist Nguyen Quoc Dung will open at Ho Chi Minh City’s Tu Do Gallery on February 4.

Themed “Drops of Spring”, the exhibition features the 53-year-old Dung’s 20 oil paintings on canvas, which portrays local women in daily activities in the past.

According to a press release from the gallery, Nguyen Quoc Dung follows the European Realism, a style consisting many criteria that became a main stream one in Vietnam with the establishment of Indochina Fine Arts College in 1926 in Hanoi.

“While he’s obsessed by concepts in western classical art, Dung is also influenced by eastern culture and by traditional style, too. This might be the only tiny deterrent in the understanding between viewers and painter,” the release say.

The exhibition will run until March 5 at 53 Ho Tung Mau Street, District 1.
